End-to-End Encrypted
All calls use SRTP (Secure Real-time Transport Protocol) with DTLS key exchange. Audio and video streams are encrypted from your device to the recipient — Varta servers never have access to call content.
Group Calls
Start group voice or video calls with multiple participants. Each participant stream is individually encrypted, and the call UI shows a dynamic grid layout that adapts to the number of participants.
Background Blur
Keep your surroundings private during video calls with real-time background blur. Processing happens on-device using client-side ML models — your video frames never pass through our servers.
Adaptive Quality
Call quality automatically adjusts based on your network conditions. Varta monitors bandwidth, latency, and packet loss in real time to deliver the best possible quality on any connection.
In-Call Controls
Full control during calls: toggle microphone, camera, and speaker. Switch between front and rear cameras. Minimize the call to continue messaging while staying connected.
Call History
View your complete call history with duration, direction, and type. Filter by all calls or missed calls. Tap any entry to call back directly.

How call encryption works
Every voice and video call on Varta is encrypted end-to-end using industry-standard protocols. Here is how each layer protects your calls.
DTLS Key Exchange
Datagram Transport Layer Security establishes encrypted channels between peers before any audio or video is transmitted. Keys are negotiated directly between devices.
SRTP Media Encryption
Secure Real-time Transport Protocol encrypts all audio and video packets using AES-128 in Counter Mode with HMAC-SHA1 authentication, ensuring both confidentiality and integrity.
Peer-to-Peer When Possible
Varta uses WebRTC ICE (Interactive Connectivity Establishment) to establish direct peer-to-peer connections. When direct connection is not possible, encrypted TURN relay is used — but the relay server sees only encrypted streams.
No Call Recording
Varta does not record, store, or have access to any call audio or video. There are no server-side call logs of content. Call metadata (duration, participants) is stored encrypted.
A beautiful call experience
Varta's call interface is designed to be intuitive and distraction-free. Incoming calls show the caller's identity with accept and decline buttons. During active calls, controls are easily accessible without being intrusive.
